| once a gold mining town (relics still remain today). The coast boasts one of the most scenic stretches of road in the country. be sure to some in early summer for the explosion of red pohutukawa flowers along the road. |

| The Coromandel is more a summer beach destination than a winter spot. Small communities that have little to offer (i.e. dinning, bar, entertainment, recreation, etc….), but beaches. |
