  To enter New Zealand, you must
  • be in good health and of good character
  • have a passport thats valid for at least three months past the date you are to leave New Zealand
  • be a genuine visitor/tourist, in other words you have plans to leave and can prove this
  • proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay to have the right visa for your visit
You dont need a visa or permit if you are
  • a New Zealand citizen or you hold a New Zealand residence permit
  • an Australian citizen, or Australian resident who holds a current permanent resident return visa (temporary or provisional resident return visa holders will need a visa to enter New Zealand)
You dont need a Visitor Visa if you are
    • a British citizen or a traveller holding a British passport who has the right to live in the United Kingdom. We may grant you a Visitor's Permit for up to six months visiting New Zealand for no more than three months and youre
    • travelling on a United Nations laissez-passer or
    • a citizen of a visa free country. Find out if you're a 'visa free' visitor. (check out Immmigration NZ for details)
If youre granted a Visitor's Permit you need to meet certain conditions during your stay
  • you may not work while youre in New Zealand (unless you apply for and are granted a Work Permit)
  • you must keep within New Zealand's laws
  • you must only stay in New Zealand for the time allowed by your permit.
